ViewWise 6.1 introduces
noteworthy enhancements in the following categories:
Indexing
A new Node Properties feature allows for index
values to be applied automatically to a document
based on
the node the document is saved to. Index values
can be hard-coded, inherited or dynamically
assigned
for documents stored in any particular node (Cabinet,
Drawer, or Folder). This feature reduces the amount
of Index Value entries required when adding new
documents and decrease the overall amount of
time required
to Index Documents into ViewWise.
In 6.1 you can now
also auto-populate an index value with the name of
the file being indexed using the <<filename.ext>> mask.
This feature allows for large batches of existing
electronic files to be migrated into ViewWise without
having to enter any index values.
Security
With security and content access becoming an ever
increasing concern, it is important that even Administrators
have restricted access. In ViewWise 6.1, the ViewWise
Administrator is no longer granted rights to edit
or modify ViewWise Documents by default. In order
for a ViewWise Administrator to have such rights,
they will have to be explicitly granted the appropriate
rights. The granting of these rights is audited in
the ViewWise Audit Trail.
Searching
The ViewWise search interface has been streamlined
in both the Web and Desktop clients to make searching
simpler. New search options have also been added,
including the ability to search for Cabinets, Drawers
and Folders.
The Quick find has now be extended to
include full text search capability in addition
to index searches.
Workflow
ViewWise 6.1 now offers Document Routing. Document
Routing allows for a document to be routed from user
to user, with a predefined task or action required
in order for the document to continue its process
flow. At any time a document can be rejected and
sent back or detached from a route. At the end of
a route, actions can be set that include moving a
document, sending a document to another route, issuing
a report via email, changing permissions, and more.
Notifications
To facilitate the workflow, email notifications have
been added to ViewWise, in addition to a new To-Do
list tab. These two features allow for end users
to be updated when new tasks arrive, as well as track
any outstanding tasks that they have yet to complete.
Output
New Output-to-PDF options have been added in this
release of ViewWise that allow users to output any
ViewWise viewable file to PDF. Where applicable,
the option
to choose between color or black & white PDF can be chosen and the bit depth
can also be set.
Users can now select to relegate output operations to a background task using
the new “Run as background process” option. This feature allows the
output operations to run in the background with a separate status screen, allowing
the user to continue to work in the ViewWise Client while output operations are
being processed.
