Computhink releases Service Pack 1 (SP1) for ViewWise 5.6
Incorporating Document Certification feature
Chicago, IL, August 1, 2005 –Service Pack 1 incorporates a wide array of Server, Client, Module and SDK enhancements, fine-tuning and fixes. The enhancements include expansion of Security, addition of Certified Document Validation, additional Server Controls, AdminWise new feature functionality, Viewer/client upgrades, and Email Archive Service (EAS) Module upgrades. Together they constitute a significant evolution of ViewWise Enterprise capabilities and overall efficiency.
While a document resides in ViewWise, the fundamental aspects of security, authenticity and integrity are assured via secure encrypted storage, access security rights and privileges, automatic version / revision control and all events recorded in a comprehensive audit trail.
However what happens when it leaves ViewWise? If we email it how will the recipient know that this is an authentic and ViewWise system authorized document from the sender? If multiple documents are faxed or printed and sent, how will they know what page belongs to which document? If digital / electronic signatures are applicable, what pages received are applicable to the signature authorization?
On output from ViewWise, one of the major new features is the Certified Document option which addresses these and many more questions / compliance regulations.
Upon selection in the output interface, a Certified Cover page is generated, listing all aspects of the document, including Date and Time of issue, Document Name, author, Name of Room (System) it was generated from, all applicable indices, any applicable current authorized and or certified signatures. In addition a Global Unique Identifier (GUID) is generated on the bottom right hand corner of the Certified cover page as well as each page of the ViewWise document, regardless of the mix of file formats that constitute the ViewWise Document. In the case of an email output, the system goes one step further, by converting all pages of the ViewWise document, regardless of the file format of its pages, into one multi-page tiff file format, with the Certified cover page as the initial page, plus the now standard GUID on every page.
The viewer utilized in all ViewWise clients now supports up to 160 file formats, with the addition of MSG, PST, OST, MIME, as well as Visio 2003, Project 2003, WordPerfect 12, and StarOffice Writer 6.0.
